MOMENTUM MOTORSPORTS SET FOR F4 JUNIOR SERIES IN 2024

South Carolina based team ready to attack 2024

As an entrant in the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda and the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda in recent years, Momentum Motorsports is set for the newly branded Ligier JS F4 Series. Set to debut in April of 2024, Momentum Motorsports has three complete cars ready to go for both an off-season test program and the 2024 season.

“We are back,” explained Momentum Motorsports Phil Picard. “We want to try and win this championship in 2024 and advance drivers up the motorsports ladder. With a huge championship prize, we are aiming to put exceptional and funded karters into our race-winning machinery and accomplish the goals that we have set forth.”

The 2024 Ligier JS F4 Series Driver Champion will win a scholarship to compete in F4 U.S. the following season with the use of a JS F422 chassis and engine from Ligier, two sets of tires per event from Hankook, and race entry fees from Parella Motorsports Holdings (PMH); the prize is valued at $133,600. Meanwhile, the 2024 F4 U.S. Driver Champion will be provided with a scholarship to compete in the 2025 season of FR Americas competition, including the use of a JS F3 chassis and engine from Ligier, two sets of tires per event from Hankook, and race entry fees from PMH for a total value of $212,000. The FR Americas Driver Champion will also be awarded a scholarship to assist in the next step of their career; details on that program are forthcoming.

Picard added, “Tony Parella and his program have developed a nice advancement ladder, and we look to take advantage of it and push toward race wins, podium results, and a championship in 2024.”

The newly-rebranded Ligier JS F4 Series will strengthen the current ladder system while providing another avenue for drivers to race single-seater cars. When the FIA-certified F4 U.S. Championship transitions to the new Ligier JS F422 chassis and Ligier Storm power in 2024, the Ligier JS F4 Series will provide teams and drivers that own the existing chassis with a place to compete. Open to drivers 14 years of age and up, making the move from karts to single-seater racecars, the new series provides them a place to race until they meet the age requirements of F4 U.S. competition.

With several series of competition planned for 2024, Momentum Motorsports and Phil Picard are currently setting up test days for young and funded drivers to compete in their program next season.

Set to race alongside the complete ladder in four of five event weekends in 2024, the Ligier JS F4 Series will see action at some of North America’s premier motorsports facilities.
