MOMENTUM MOTORSPORTS ADDS W SERIES DRIVER MEGAN GILKES TO F3 AMERICAS ROSTER

Momentum Motorsports continues their expansion and is please to confirm that W Series competitor Megan Gilkes will join the team for the remainder of the 2019 F3 Americas Powered by Honda program. Joining Kent Vaccaro and fellow W Series driver Shea Holbrook, Momentum Motorsports will enter three drivers for the remaining event weekends as they look to add to their podium winning season.

“We are honored to have Megan join Momentum Motorsports,” explained Team Owner Phil Picard. “Megan is a true talent behind the wheel and understands the engineering of a race car. We tested her back in late 2018 and were impressed by her speed, feedback and what she can do behind the wheel. We have always left the door open to work with one another in the future and that time has finally come.”

“From Formula Vee to F3 in 12 months, I have to pinch myself to realize that I am not dreaming,” explained Gilkes. “This time last year, I was racing a Formula Vee in an SCCA Majors race and a year later I have the opportunity to compete in the most exciting new single seater series in North America. It is clearly a great stepping stone for any young driver with professional aspirations. It started with a two-day test with Momentum Motorsports in their F4 car at MSR Houston in December, and thanks to Phil Picard and a number of people in the F3 paddock, I can look forward to driving a Ligier Honda in Pittsburgh in June. To all those people a huge thank you and I can’t wait to be on the grid.”

Picard added, “Megan really caught my eye with her skills in the wet in New Jersey. From that day forward, I wanted her to be part of the Momentum Motorsports program but understood that the W Series was a priority. I had no doubt in my mind that her natural skills would land her a spot on the grid of 18 females, and we supported her in her testing efforts leading up the evaluation process. Now, with W Series and and F3 Americas program on the horizon, Megan will be opened up to a higher level of engineering, data and coaching. The people from her past have done a tremendous job of molding her into the driver she is today, and now, she is a racer that can win week in and week out.”

Gilkes, a young Canadian female, continues to chase the motorsport dream thousands of miles away from her hometown. Going to school in England but living in Canada, Gilkes is studying towards a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

With two months off until rounds six, seven and eight at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex, Momentum Motorsports will reengage in their test program for drivers looking to compete with their program. With open seats available for the remainder of the year for the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda campaign, interested parties are asked to contact Momentum Motorsports today.
